Information about domain names in .ac

The ".ac" top-level domain is designated for Ascension Island, a small island in the South Atlantic Ocean. However, over the years, it has also gained popularity among academic institutions, research centers, and tech companies worldwide, thanks to its association with the term "academic."

This extension is particularly appealing for universities, colleges, scientific organizations, and scholars who want to emphasize their educational or research credentials. The .ac domain helps create a trustworthy and scholarly online presence, making it easier to attract students, partners, and collaborators.

Another advantage is that domain names with .ac are generally more available than traditional .edu or .com domains, giving registrants greater freedom to choose a preferred name.
