Information about domain names in .cat

The .cat top-level domain is a unique extension designed specifically for the Catalan linguistic and cultural community. Launched in 2006, it was the first sponsored TLD dedicated to promoting a language and culture online, rather than a country or a general interest.

This domain is primarily intended for individuals, organizations, and websites that promote Catalan language or culture, or provide content in Catalan. It is not restricted to businesses or residents of Catalonia, but rather to anyone with a connection to the Catalan community worldwide.

Choosing a .cat domain offers clear benefits. It shows a strong commitment to Catalan identity, enhances the visibility of Catalan initiatives, and helps users find authentic Catalan content more easily on the Internet.
