Information about domain names in .is

The .is top level domain (TLD) is the official country-code extension for Iceland. Introduced in 1987, it is managed by the Internet Iceland Association and is primarily intended for individuals, businesses, and organizations connected with Iceland.

While .is was originally designed for Icelandic entities, it is open to international registrations, making it accessible for anyone worldwide. This openness has increased its popularity, especially among creative projects and brands looking for a unique and short domain name.

The .is extension offers both credibility within Iceland and an opportunity for creative uses of the word "is" in English-language web addresses. It is recognized for its stability, security, and strong local management, making it a reliable choice.
