Information about domain names in .mu

The ".mu" domain is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. It is officially assigned to entities associated with Mauritius, including businesses, organizations, and individuals living or operating there.

Primarily, ".mu" is used by local companies looking to emphasize their Mauritian identity online. It helps organizations signal trust and relevance to both local and international audiences searching for Mauritian services or information. Governmental and educational institutions in Mauritius also favor it for their official websites.

One of the main advantages of the ".mu" extension is its clear association with Mauritius, improving local branding. Additionally, registration is relatively open, allowing businesses worldwide—especially in the music industry, as “mu” suggests “music”—to creatively use the extension.
